It’s Okay to be Vulnerable

I think we are all vulnerable – especially to what scares us the most. Whether this be the potential for true love, a career that we would love to have or just to be ourselves, each and every day. It is our vulnerability that keeps us stuck, when our heart truly wants what is right in front of us. Often, we are too scared to reach out and grab it because it just seems too far or too unattainable or more succinct, we don’t believe we deserve it.

I’ve struggled with vulnerability my whole life, like many of you have. I still do on some days. Anyone who tells you otherwise, isn’t being authentic. It’s okay to be vulnerable. It’s what makes us humans. What you do with it makes all the difference in the world.

Be scared all you want. Keep all the fears you have. Be vulnerable. Don’t tell anyone. Stay the course or better yet, do something about it. Tell only one person that understands how you could possibly feel. Get out of that rut and live the life you were meant to live all these years. Invest in your life by taking action.

It’s all too easy to stay the course. Why should we change? Life has been ‘fine’. No great highs and no great lows. Everyday is the same. Why rock the boat?

We rock the boat so we can live our life to the fullest. It’s so much easier to just keep going on the path of least resistance than it is to reach out and say, I want that, or I want him or I want… We think life is easier if we keep the stress out and our vulnerability in but it doesn’t offer us the best life possible. We exist versus living. We survive rather than thrive and we settle versus fighting for what we truly desire in our hearts.

Take your vulnerability on a ride of a lifetime. Invest in yourself and in a coach that can get you from where you are and what you have to where you want to be and what you wish for. Life ends way too quickly for some, and those of us still here, must excel to live a vibrant journey chasing our dreams well others have been denied that extra time. Coaching for You

We always want something different it seems. A new car, a new job, to win the lottery, to have children that excel in school – the list is unlimited. However not many of us are not willing to work at something long and hard. We want it to be easy. Accomplishing our life’s goals or dreams, or wanting to be happier requires effort. ‘Nothing good comes easy’, so I hear.

For me, I’ve always had a coach of one type or another by my side. It’s not that I’m unmotivated to achieve my goals, but the support has been invaluable. A business coach, a spiritual coach, a life purpose coach and more lately, a transformational coach are some of the ones that I have chosen on my journey. The times in my life where I was ‘winging it alone’ were the times that I felt I was going in circles – circles in my head and circles in my life’s direction. You know, just like the hamster on his little wheel; pedalling fast but going nowhere.

A few times I have used a therapist or a counsellor when coaching wasn’t even heard of as a profession. This approach didn’t allow me to necessarily think for myself, or choose the direction of my journey. There were too many judgments, suggestions and opinions that didn’t allow me to ‘feel’ what was right for me. You know, that gut feeling we all have but ignore.

We all know what is good for us. Sometimes you can go through periods in life, short or long, where you question everything and nothing seems to be going where you want it to go. I’ve found these times were from a lack of clarity, within myself. The answers I know were inside of me, but I couldn’t hear them for the lack of peace, harmony and faith.

Sometimes the answers become clear in one session! Sometimes it takes longer but there is always the greatest sense of inspiration when you work with someone that has no agenda but to see YOU succeed! You know you are capable. You know you can do anything. Nothing is hard but that which is in our minds. Challenge Yourself!

If you’ve been keeping up with my blogs, you will remember that I wrote about whether or not one change in your life could make a difference. Here’s the latest news!

Oh my goodness! I’m thinking I have to change my answer to YES! One little change in your daily routine can change your life. You’ve got to try it!  I started off with:

Week 1 & 2 – ½ hour walk after a ½ meditation and grateful journal writing

Week 3 & 4 – I’ve moved up to a one hour with meditation and writing

The first day of week 5, I decided to tackle some stairs that I noticed as I was walking during week 3 & 4. This was my next challenge. Not only did I notice but I told someone I was going to do it. I obviously told the wrong person because he kept asking when the big day was. I think we call them our accountability partner. Yep, a pain in the butt brother really but nevertheless a long distance coach all the way from Manitoba.

Here are some of the pictures just to show you how many I did.

I thought I was finished when I saw the bridge (81 stairs done). You know those kinds of stairs where it’s open and you can see everything underneath it and as you climb higher and higher your fear of heights kick in. Yep those are the ones! The ones you avoid always, always, always.

I’m looking at the bridge with a dozen more stairs. I look underneath and I’m thinking to myself ‘I can’t do this’. What if I fall, pass out, trip, or lose my phone no less. Then this quiet little voice says, ‘you got this Lucie’.

Yep, I did it! And guess what was on the other side? More bloomin’ stairs! This I was not anticipating. As I stood on the bridge and took a picture of Guelph, I thought about turning around and going back to where I came from. First of all, there were more stairs in front of me, but I also didn’t know where I was. I’m relatively new to Guelph and the street above the remainder of the stairs was unknown territory. Well it seemed to be a day of challenges so off I go to climb in total, 101 stairs.

I found my way home 10 minutes later to climb another 25 stairs to get into my condo.  I would have thought that I’m totally done in but the success of the challenge has me motivated to work, do more, accomplish more rather than flopping on the sofa. It’s a good thing I disconnected cable months ago because flicking on the TV would have been my next move.

Today’s challenge reminded me of my trip to Peru. It was the only vacation I took that I lost weight because of all the stair climbing we did. Everything was on a mountain – climbing was the only way you got there, especially when you got to Machu Picchu. Learn more about Peru here! 

    

As I’m writing this though, I decided to look up the definition of stairs – a set of steps leading from one floor to another – in this case for me, a set of steps leading from one accomplishment to another.  If you haven’t challenged yourself lately, try something new or follow me along on my walks. Just pick that one little thing that you’ve been thinking of doing for a long time, and set a date for tomorrow, and DO IT because you can!

Change One Thing

Like everyone else, there are days or months that I feel in a rut! You know – always doing the same thing everyday.  I feel like I’m coasting in life but no rollercoaster rides. Sometimes the ups and downs we can do without but sometimes they are needed just to remind us we are alive!

I’ve read many books over the years, and listened to many motivational speakers. I hear them often say, if you want to change your life, change ONE thing you do every day. It’s a kickstart into wanting to climb out of that rut. That sounds like work

I decided to test that silly thought that I could get a different life with changing just one thing! They aren’t exactly correct.

Changing one thing in my everyday routine hasn’t changed my life per se but it has given me a different perspective.

It has allowed for more creativity as in, what am I going to change next. Now I’m not talking about a total revamp of everything (I did that over 2 years ago) but I’m talking about getting up ½ hour earlier to do something extra for your self.

For those of you that think getting up ½ hour earlier than you normally do isn’t going to happen you should book a Discovery Session with me. Being self employed and being your own boss allows you to live the life you want, set that alarm clock or not and choose your daily schedule of work or play.

Changing that one thing has made me realize that my life could be different; that I could accomplish whatever I want; spend the day with a friend, or lie in bed longer with my love – whatever I decide, it’s all good. It’s a small start to wanting my life to be different. No huge heroic effort is needed here. I’m happy because with huge effort, sometimes comes disappointment that I’ve taken on something bigger than I’m capable of mastering. The smaller change of one thing in my daily routine has helped begin the journey to a different life:  One that I am the master of.

Try it for yourself and you will see what I mean.

Here is what I’ve done. I naturally wake up at 0600 hours – meditate and write in a journal of all the people and things in life that I’m grateful for. I’ve always done this – well, for years anyways. Lately I decided to challenge my fitness level – or lack thereof. I walk by 0700 hours. I started with ½ hour and now 2 weeks later, I’m at one hour of walking BEFORE I do any work or talk to anyone or look at any electronic device.  Due to this small change, I actually do feel better and I’m able to focus on getting that work done, with lots of energy left over to do what my heart desires, outside of work.

So, maybe my life has changed because of that one thing!

I’M FINE! REALLY!

How many times in your lifetime have you uttered those few words?

I think too many times, if you are asking me.

I’ve done it millions of times I’m sure of it. How do I know? It’s my ‘go to’ answer for everything. Why? Because it’s no one’s business but my own, how I’m really doing. I don’t want to talk about it one more time to one more person, or in my case, to the same people that love me and support me each and every day.

I would rather tell a stranger that I’m having a crappy day, than someone I care about. After all, I support them. I shouldn’t expect anything in return. Right?

I have to say though, that this gets tiring. There are days when I just want to say the absolute truth.

The truth is some days just SUCK! Sometimes it’s weeks on end, or months and in some cases it feels and probably is, years. Yep, I’m tired!  However, there is one thing that makes all of this just okay and sometimes enlightening. You could say ‘okay’ isn’t enough and I agree, however enlightening is enough.

I absolutely refuse to give up on my dreams. I refuse to live a life of mediocrity. I refuse to be average. I refuse to be like everyone else, in a dead end job, in a dead end relationship, and accepting my status quo rather than fighting for what I believe I deserve.

Some days I doubt what I truly deserve and I make a mess of everything. I doubt, I second-guess myself, and I don’t follow through on anything that is of worth to me in my life and on those days I give up. Tomorrow is always another day to do better and on those days when I’m really tired – tomorrow is a lifesaver.

Tomorrow, I go about making my dreams come true because I’m still not prepared to give up.

I have a friend Joyce that bought me a picture years ago with a saying on it – I hang it in my living room where I see it everyday. It reads:

‘No matter how impossible it may seem, never underestimate the power of a dream.’ (D.Morgan)

She says the chances are 1 in 400, 000, 000, 000, 000 and most of us spend our lives wasting it rather than seeking out why we are here on this earth at this time. We squander this miracle by not realizing our potential. Are you one of those people? If you are, get your SHIT together, and make a move. Your time on earth is short. Don’t waste it in some useless job or unfulfilling relationship.

Make your heart soar by going after your dreams. Don’t give up.

Rat Race no More

I decided when I was 38 years old, that I was going to put my dream of working for myself into action. I was tired of changing jobs every 2 years, not really building a career but job-hopping instead. Within 2 years of thinking and dreaming of working for myself, I did it! And 17 years later, I can say I’ve had the time of my life! I would not trade it for the world.

However, in the last couple of years, business has been far more quiet then I’m accustomed to, so I decided to fill up some of my time by getting a full-time job, while waiting for more contracts. I worked full time during the day, and managed my business during the evening and weekends.

Surprise!

I didn’t feel any different being employed than I did years ago when I gave up working for someone else, and here’s why:

•When on salary, all the extra hours you spend working aren’t compensated for

•You use up all of your energy during the day to have none left for when you get home

•Work seems to think they own you by expecting you to have a work phone, where you answer phone calls and emails when you aren’t supposed to be working

•You work with people who prefer you don’t think for yourself, so they can make all the decisions for you

•You have to work for too many micro managers with power struggles that are trying to make a name for themselves

•There is never anytime for a coffee break or lunch to fit into your schedule other than those sips or bites before dashing to another meeting or task

•Being 2 minutes late can be an issue but taking a sick day is even more of an issue

•There is a lack of respect for the years of accumulated experience and education, especially if you don’t have a title

•You begin to believe the pay cheque, benefits and pension plan is something you just can’t live without

I’m here to tell you that you can live without all of the above and get everything you ever desired, from owning your own business. It does however take a leap of faith to get you going.

I was a single mom raising two children on my own, in a city that I recently moved to. I had no other source of income – just my pay cheque. The work dynamics were not great for me at all. I thought there was more to a career than thinking I have another 40 years of working for this employer or any other. There is a lot more out there in life for you but you need to let go of the old way of life, and the old way of working, to transition you to a career and business you would love to wake up to every morning.

I want a Red Porsche!

One of the most talked about times in an individual’s life is when the kids are all grown up; moved out and living a life of their own.  All these years of taking care of them and coaxing them along, to bring you to this moment of ,‘What’s next? What do I do with myself? What is my life purpose?’

Chances are these thoughts were already percolating in your mind for years. Mine started when the kids went to university, especially the last one.

If you have a spouse, one of 2 things happen:  you carry on to fulfill some of your dreams together or you decide to separate to live the life you’ve always dreamed of – alone or with a new love.

This is what some call the mid-life crisis.

For many years we plod along, day in and day out, following a routine where our family and our careers take precedence over our lives, and we forget ourselves.  We give too much of ourselves away, and forget to nourish our own dreams and desires.

If you have been paying attention and following your heart, chances are a mid-life crisis may not happen to you because you’ve been living your dreams all along. For those of us that live vicariously through our spouses or children, we wonder why and how we got to this stage and realize that our own transformation can no longer be delayed or denied. We pick up the pieces so we can become whole once again, or maybe even for the first time.

It’s time to take a good, long, hard look at your life; figure out what’s working and what needs changing, and be brave enough to make those changes. Fear is the only thing that steps in our way because we allow it to immobilize ourselves from taking even one step in the right direction, or any direction for that matter. It doesn’t need to be right. It just needs to be.

What are your goals? 

• Do you want to have a total health transformation?

• Do you want to start volunteering for your favourite cause?

• Do you want to quit the corporate world and create a soul business that brings goodness to the world?

• Do you want to start an online company and allow yourself to travel the world?

• Do you simply want more freedom?

Make it happen. Make anything and everything you ever wanted – happen.

Find yourself; stay true to yourself; and step outside of your comfort zone. Live life to its fullest every single day; every single moment.  Now if you want an excuse to buy that red Porsche, a mid-life crisis is as good a reason as any.

Change TWO things and Watch your Life Transform in 2 months!

What is standing in the way of you reaching your dreams? Are there areas in your life that need just a little bit more attention that would make all the difference you have been wishing for?

Whether you want a transformation in your health, your business, your job, your family or with your closest relationships, there are two things that can transform your whole world in as little as just 2 months!

Transformation Tip #1: Put Yourself First

I know, this sounds harsh and downright impossible when you have a demanding boss, young children to care for and a spouse to cherish but this is the most integral part of your whole transformational journey. Even for a small window of time every day, you must put yourself first. You have to set some time aside for yourself to allow the incredible YOU to emerge (or re-emerge).

What area of your life is ready for transformation?

Take steps to ready yourself for these changes and then fly! For example, if you are wanting to experience a health and body transformation, you must put yourself first long enough to carve out a window of time to joyfully move that body and prep some healthy meals.

If you’re not quite able to wrap your head around putting yourself first, focus on the fact that your family will benefit from having the best version of you, ever!

If you are developing a new soul business, you must find time in your day to put yourself first, so that you can make waves with your new venture! And again, any benefits you are experiencing personally, will naturally trickle out to your family and friends.

Take some prime transformational time to devote energy to yourself and your desires, because we often let ourselves have the left-over minutes of the day, but by then, we are usually exhausted and have nothing left to give to ourselves.

Transformation Tip #2: Act as though your transformation is complete!

If you were already at your perfect body size and shape, what would you do to maintain it? If you were already eating a clean diet, it would be easy to stay on that eating plan.

If you already have a thriving business, what would you be doing to keep it producing? You wouldn’t be worrying about the small details and getting caught up on the day to day things that make you busy, you would be focusing on the larger visionary pieces that make you money!

Create space in your life to envision the things you want the most and then take these two steps to make it happen.

Just imagine how much your life can change in a very short period of time if you take these tips seriously. And think about how good you would feel NOW if you had only started 2 MONTHS AGO!!!! So start now. You will thank yourself for it!
